Deron DeCesare has been creating award winning illustrative art for books, periodicals, event programs, posters, and t-shirts since his student days.  Pen & ink was a favorite medium of his at that time and continues to be an effective means of expression for him.  Whether an illustration  project calls for black and white, full color or something in between, DeCesare is known for working efficiently and creatively within his client’s parameters.

Thompson Creek, pen & ink. Attractive presentation materials, including a folder and interleaving paper protected reproductions of a DeCesare pen & ink drawing of one of Thompson Creek Mining Company's mining operations.  For the folder, DeCesare designed a mountain peak graphic, printed in silver foil, based on the mountainous Idaho landscape where the mine is located.

State Department Federal Credit Union, 1989, watercolor. On the occasion of the opening of their new corporate headquarters in Alexandria, VA, SDFCU commissioned this painting of the building.  Reproductions were used on materials such as stationery and the company handbook.  The original painting resides within the building it depicts. See image of the watercolor in Paintings.

Wrought Iron Stairs, 2008, pen & ink.  DeCesare has had numerous opportunities to explore the historic city of Alexandria, VA through his involvement with Senior Services of Alexandria.  Over a several year span, he produced over 30 pen & ink renderings of city scenes to be reproduced in that organization’s popular fundraiser calendars.

SUpercussion, 2009, pen & ink.  This design was used as part of a three color t-shirt design to be used by the musicians in the Shenandoah University Percussion Ensemble.  DeCesare’s interest and knowledge of fantasy and comic book art as well as music (he is a percussionist himself) are in evidence here.

The Red Herring, 2010, pen & ink with colored pencil.  Humorous characters and doodles can often be found scattered throughout DeCesare’s sketch pads.  This illustration was created to accompany author Josh Burns’ short story published in Storyoftheweekclub’s Blog.

Different by Design, 2010, monoprint.  This print was commissioned by Callahan & Associates for the cover of their annual Credit Union Directory. This publication has set the industry standard for reporting credit union performance for more than 25 years.  The theme for 2011, Different by Design, celebrates the unique characteristics and traditions that mark the industry’s cooperative structure.

Portions of the cover art are used throughout the interior to illustrate the theme.
